Medical Director and Chief Physician

Prof. Gerhard Gründer is the Medical Director of the OVID Clinic Berlin and one of the two chief physicians. He is a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy and is recognized internationally as an expert in pharmacotherapy of mental disorders.

Over 240 publications in international journals and numerous books on questions related to psychiatric pharmacotherapy have been authored or published by Prof. Gründer. In recent years, he has focused on the assessment of the benefits of drug therapy and potential long-term consequences of continuous treatment. He advocates for conducting clinical studies that prioritize long-term patient well-being and their quality of life.

Prof. Gründer has consistently been included in the Focus list of 'Top Physicians in Germany' in the categories of 'Depression' and 'Anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders' for several years. Additionally, he is the initiator and lead investigator of a clinical trial on the efficacy and safety of psilocybin in treatment-resistant depression at the Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim (EPIsoDE). This trial concluded in March 2024, with results anticipated in early summer 2024.
